It’s been rainy and windy for the last 24 hours or so.  While it isn’t the storm of the Century, about 12,000 customers are without power across CT this morning. Winds have gusted 35 to 45 mph across a large portion of the area, with a few higher gusts along the shoreline. Rainfall totals have reached about 1.0 to 2.5 inches statewide, which is very beneficial given recent drought conditions.

Latest Observations as of 12PM 10/13

Showers will continue this afternoon as this storm slowly ramps down. Most models have the system pulling away by Tuesday morning, with conditions drying out across the region by midday Tuesday at the latest.

I will admit messaging was a bit difficult with this storm, which we knew would cause impacts, but not impacts that were overly severe. I saw many outlets with headlines calling this a “dangerous” or “severe” storm which really does not help public perception or forecast wording.  As we said a couple days ago, this was more of a typical October Nor’easter as opposed to something memorable.
