CONNECTICUT WEATHER’S LATEST FORECAST DISCUSSION
May 11th, 2026 8:00 AM
Surface observations this morning show that a cold front moved through the region overnight, bringing a few lingering showers to parts of SE and RI early this morning. Those showers should wrap up shortly after sunrise, and winds will gradually ease as the day goes on. Behind the front, drier air will settle into the region today, with a mix of sun and clouds and afternoon temperatures mainly in the low to mid 60s — a little below average for this time of year, but comfortable overall.
The weather pattern then becomes more unsettled during the middle and latter part of the week. Tuesday looks mainly dry, but clouds will begin increasing ahead of the next storm system. The best chance for widespread rain across Connecticut will come from late Wednesday afternoon through Thursday. Periods of showers are expected, and there could even be a few rumbles of thunder Wednesday night into Thursday morning. Rainfall totals may approach around an inch in some areas, and there is the possibility for some heavier downpours at times. Showery conditions may linger into Friday as cooler air aloft keeps the atmosphere somewhat unstable, but I decided to go ‘partly cloudy’ for now due to hunch on faster moving exit to the system.
Looking ahead to the weekend, the forecast is trending much better. The storm system should pull away in time for warmer and drier weather to return across Connecticut. Temperatures are expected to climb well into the 70s Saturday and could reach the upper 70s to lower 80s by Sunday inland. Coastal areas will likely stay a bit cooler thanks to the marine influence, but overall the weekend is shaping up to be very pleasant.
