CONNECTICUT WEATHER’S LATEST FORECAST DISCUSSION
June 23rd, 2026 8:39 AM
Good morning! Showers and thunderstorms will continue to move across the region through the morning and into this afternoon as a cold front sweeps through Connecticut and the Hudson Valley. While a few isolated pockets of heavy rain are still possible, most locations should see rainfall remain below levels that would cause widespread flooding concerns. Around 1 to 2 inches of rainfall has already fallen across the region, with another 0.25 to 0.50 inches expected today.
The good news is that the threat for severe weather appears low. While a rumble of thunder remains possible, atmospheric instability and wind shear are limited, making damaging winds or severe thunderstorms unlikely. Many short range models this morning linger showers well into the afternoon now, which is a change from the earlier clearing that was expected 24 hours ago.
After today’s unsettled weather moves out, conditions improve for midweek before another weather system approaches late Thursday into Friday. Increasing southwest winds aloft will bring another opportunity for showers and scattered thunderstorms, with the greatest chance for widespread rainfall currently expected Thursday night into Friday as a cold front moves through the Northeast.
Additional disturbances may keep the chance for occasional showers and thunderstorms around into the start of the weekend, although it will not be a washout. We’ll continue to fine-tune the timing and impacts as the week progresses.
