Introduction:

Welcome to our new Candlewood Lake Page. To introduce myself, my name is Jack and I am a local meteorologist who grew up right in the Greater Danbury area. This page has been a passion project of mine, and over the last few months, I have spent well over 100 hours coding this (I am not a programmer lol) and turning it into what I hope is the best weather resource there is for the Candlewood Lake area. The page is meant to convey any pertinent information someone may need to enjoy all that Candlewood Lake has to offer.

Page Contents – The page will display:

  • Lightning Alerts for Candlewood Lake pulled from a lightning detector on our station. The detector has a range of approximately 25 miles.
  • White Cap Alerts if wind gusts are forecast to be 19 mph or greater and directionally aligned with the lake topography.
  • Boating Alerts if wind gusts are forecast to be greater than 25 mph from any direction.
  • Current weather conditions pulled from our professional weather station set up near Candlewood Shores in Brookfield, CT
  • Sunrise and Sunset times
  • Lake water temperature
  • NWS Alerts (Watches, Warnings, Advisories) issued for Candlewood Lake
  • A custom hourly forecast and 8-Day forecast via a combination of @Tempest@WeatherFlow AI technology, our station data, and a manual override.
  • NWS detailed forecast for Candlewood Lake. This is great as a reference and I like comparing the two forecasts.
  • Custom coded interactive radar
  • Daily ‘Lakecentric’ forecast discussion written by myself or Chris

Improvements Over Time:

Candlewood Lake is 10 miles long, running all the way from Danbury to Sherman. The more of professional weather stations we can place around the lake and add to our data network, the more accurate this site will be. The goal by next summer is to break the lake into at least three zones, all with their own properly sited weather station and lightning detector. If you happen to own a Tempest Weather Station (there are a few already around the lake) and want to let us use your data, it would be immensely appreciated. The data can pulled remotely and will not impact the way you experience or interact with your station. Of course, we would be happy to come over for a visit and ensure proper station siting.

Weather Station and Sponsorship Opportunities:

Live right on the lake and want to be a weather spotter for us? A new Tempest station is about $350 dollars, and we would be happy to help you set up and site it in the best possible location. You would have full access to the professional weather station and the app interface, just as if you had bought it for yourself. Additionally, if you or your company are interested in advertising on the page or our social media, that is certainly a way to help us as well. Packages start at less than $200. Feel free to contact me jack@ctweather.com with any questions.  Always happy to chat!

Thank you and I sincerely hope you find this site useful!

Jack
