Storm 1: Today’s System
- Timing: Through the day on Thursday
- Details: Overcast skies with scattered showers across the region. General precipitation amounts of 0.10 to 0.25 inches.
- Precipitation: Scattered rain showers are expected to continue throughout the day, with highs climbing into the upper 40s to low 50s. There is a slight chance of a rumble of thunder this afternoon, but confidence is too low to include it in the general forecast.
- Snow/Winter Potential: Far Northern Litchfield County may see a few wet snowflakes as precipitation starts, but it will change to plain rain across the entire forecast area. A coating to an inch appears possible on the highest hills.
Storm 2: Saturday Clipper System
- Timing: Saturday morning and afternoon
- Details: A clipper system will track over the Great Lakes and into New England.
- Precipitation: Expect a few rain and snow showers with little or no impact or accumulation in the morning, followed by a few showers in the afternoon and evening as the cold front swings back through. .
- Snow/Winter Potential: Light snow accumulation is possible across the hills of Northern CT, but overall, this is expected to be a low-impact event with mostly rain showers across the urban I84/I95 corridor.
Storm 3: Cutter Mid-Week Next Week
Timing: Wednesday
- Details: A system will approach from the inland, taking a warm track.
- Precipitation: Periods of rain and breezy conditions are likely. Rain accumulations greater than an inch are possible!
- Snow Potential: High confidence that this will be a warm storm with no major snow potential. An “inland runner” or “cutter” as we call it.
With recent mild weather and the upcoming rain, a common question will likely be, “Is Winter Over?”
