Strong high pressure centered near Bermuda has resulted in a pattern and flow more typical of July than October. In fact, if today’s pattern were to happen in July when the days are longer and the sun is stronger, I would expect many climate sites to climb near or even over 100 degrees. Alas, it is the final day of October, and we will approach 80 degrees across the area, close to the maximum the season will allow.

This Halloween is already warm, and I expect temperatures to max out between about 2PM and 3PM. At our local Danbury station, the record to beat is 79°F (set in 1946), while Bridgeport’s record stands at 75°F (set in 2004). The Hartford area record will be the tallest task, sitting at 82°F (also set in 1946). Expect continued sunshine and a SW  breeze to continue through the afternoon.

Happy Trick or Treating to everyone celebrating – and make sure you stay hydrated!

P.S Our local emergency managers want to remind everyone to be wary of the ongoing high wildfire risk. The CT Brush Fire Index today is EXTREME for most of CT. Be safe!
